The name "Ponnanganni" means glow like gold. A very simple Ponnanganni keerai poriyal/stirfry included twice or thrice a week in our diet is a wonderful remedy to stay healthy. Simple Poriyal Recipes Heat oil in a pan and then add mustard seeds in it. When the mustard seeds starts to sputter, add split urad dal and broken red chilli and fry them till the dal turns golden brown colour.

- Wash the leaf and keep aside. Slice the onion thinly and keep aside.
- Heat oil in kadai add mustard, cumin, channa dal and urad dal. Once both dals roasted add broken red chilli and curry leaves.
- Now add sliced onion and saute until onion turns brown. Now add hing and turmeric.
- Add ponnankanni leaf and salt. Close with lid and cook in medium flame for 3 to 4 minutes. Don't add water.
- When you are ready to switch off the flame add grated coconut and mix. Serve hot with sambar rice..
Ponnanganni Keerai also called as Dwarf Copper Leaf in English, is a wonderful green which is losing its charm nowadays.
